Black Bear Golf Club - Book Tee Time

Course Description

The P. B. Dye designed Black Bear course is unique to Central Florida as it represents one of the few if only links style courses in the area.

The course allows golfers of all levels to experience some of the fun and challenge of playing a wide open but challenging tournament standard undulating links layout.

Importantly for the serious golfer or those who want to improve their game Black Bear features one of the best practice facilities in the Orlando area. With a double ended range, four sets of range tees and a 40,000 square foot short game area Black Bear offers plenty of opportunity to fine tune your game.

Black Bear Golf Club also features a 19th "shoot-out" hole for special events, shoot-outs, to settle a score or just a bit of extra fun.

HOLE 1
A gentle opening par 4 with a generous landing area. Your second shot must carry a well-placed mound protecting the left side of the green.
HOLE 2
The first par 5 on the course. Split sloping fairway makes it necessary to keep your ball on the right upper level. It's possible to go for the green in two but any missed shot will be caught by a steep run-off area making your third shot a necessary high flop shot to a small tough green.
HOLE 3
A straightforward tee shot appears the simple way to go on this par 3 but be aware any shot above the hole leaves a treacherous downhill putt.
HOLE 4
The second of the par 5s. Your tee shot is an uphill endeavor to a wide landing area. Mounding and rolling terrain make for a deceptive second shot. A good third shot sets up for a birdie opportunity.
HOLE 5
An elevated tee to a very narrow green makes this par 3 both challenging and deceptive. Miss the green and your score card could get ugly quickly.
HOLE 6
A good drive on this par 4 keeps you away from the huge sand waste bunker to the left. Your approach shot however must be deadly accurate to this raised postage stamp green.
HOLE 7
Keep your drive left on this relatively short par 4. But be aware that your second shot needs to target the pin.
HOLE 8
This par 4 provides a change of pace and challenge. Hitting between large oaks your drive must be straight. The second shot to the green must not be long otherwise you will find yourself in one of several pot bunkers.
HOLE 9
A favorite but very difficult par 4. Your must carry over or thread between two towering oaks to land center fairway otherwise your approach shot will prove a huge challenge. The green is set in a natural amphitheatre and protected by deep bunkers.
HOLE 10
The valley hole. Both sides of the fairway on this par 4 are protected by huge mounding and bunkers. Keep your drive straight. Your second shot better find the green, left means big trouble and right means a run-off making for a very delicate up and down recovery.
HOLE 11
The longest par 3 on the course. Target the pin on this hole otherwise you might find yourself with a 50-foot putt on this huge green.
HOLE 12
A misplaced tee shot on this par 4 can make for a high scoring hole. Keep your tee shot away from the sand mounds on the right... and for goodness sakes make sure you take enough club for your approach to this well protected and deceptive green.
HOLE 13
A straightaway drive to a wide fairway on this par 4 makes for a bit of relaxation. However refocus quickly your approach must be accurate to this narrow green, otherwise you may find yourself in a signature Dye bunker.
HOLE 14
A bit of a monster, this par 5. Keep your drive straight otherwise you will find a large waste area on your left or nasty pot bunkers on your right. Forget going for it in two unless... well just forget it. Play a conservative second shot to set yourself up for an accurate chip to an elevated green.
HOLE 15
This appears to be an easy hole as it is the shortest par 3 on the course. However be aware there are a few surprises with hidden bunkers and a very long narrow and sloping green. Keep your tee shot below the hole.
HOLE 16
What appears to be any easy open par 5 dog leg right can turn nasty if you miscalculate. No need to cut the corner...if you miss you're in a mess. Reachable in two but be accurate as the approach narrows to a funnel and a very well mounded and bunkered green.
HOLE 17
This par 4 can be scary. It's huge! Keep your drive left on this split level fairway. Your approach shot better hit this small elevated green, otherwise you may find yourself swallowed by one of the largest and deepest bunkers you wish you never set eyes on.
HOLE 18
The finishing par 4 requires a somewhat blind tee shot. Keep it straight and pay attention to the distance markers. Big drivers can hit the water in front of the green which makes for a nasty splash. Be accurate with your approach otherwise you will likely get wet.
